Esquimalt BC Lantern Festival
In 2025, shortly after graduating Canadian College of Performing Arts, Jessica Hickman reached out needing to adapt this puppet originally used in a production of Antigone at the college, for the Esquimalt Lantern Festival.
The task was to transform the giant menacing CREOS into a friendly giant.
I replicated the original hand, gave him a colourful glowing robe, dopey ears, and used plastic eggs and tissue paper to add kind knowing eyes.

Jessica gave me free range in the adaptation and I had the pleasure of figuring out ways to replicate her techniques.
In the festival, this big friendly giant roamed around the park entertaining families, grown ups and kiddos alike.
