Origins

of the

Coast

Award winning Origins of The Coast (2025) was my first directing opportunity coming out of college, and my first Fringe. Maddy Kirstein, invited me to co-direct with him after seeing my thesis project SHIPPED.

The process was devised with a team of over 20 artists from original script to the actual shaping and eventual performance. With 3 main storylines, along with 2 more alternate paths.

I started the process with character and world building workshops, in order the get performers on the same environment before running with the vision.

The design of the show featured Costumes by Carly Young and Puppets by Kiley Verbowski from Over the Moon Puppets, both of whom I assisted in the construction. From problem solving a giant out-door Jellyfish puppet, to detailing 6 character masks, to cutting out hundreds of fabric ribbons all in under 1 month; we created a beautiful show on a nothing budget bringing a little a magic to Victoria’s 2025 Fringe Festival.

Taking home Best Ensemble was so well deserved by this incredibly dedicated team.
